FCTA Signs Standard Operating Procedures to Enhance Service Delivery

In a bid to improve service delivery in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, the FCT Administration (FCTA) has officially signed off on its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The Permanent Secretary of FCTA, Olusade Adesola, emphasized the significance of implementing the SOPs, stating that it is a testament to the FCTA’s commitment to adapting to change and modernization. He highlighted that the SOPs would bring about a remarkable transformation in the functioning of FCTA.

Adesola further expressed that the development of these procedures reflects the FCTA’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of governance and serving the people with utmost integrity.

He stated, “As we gather here to sign off on these SOPs, we are embarking on a journey towards a more efficient, accountable, and citizen-centric government. These SOPs will provide a framework for our departments to operate in a consistent manner, ensuring that our services are delivered promptly, uniformly, and with the utmost professionalism.”

The implementation of the SOPs is set to commence in January 2024. Adesola emphasized that it will reduce ambiguity, minimize errors, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery, paving the way for a more streamlined and transparent functioning of various departments within the FCT.

As part of the sign off ceremony, 15 departments received signed copies of their SOPs. Adesola emphasized that these documents will undergo periodic reviews. He also issued a warning to other secretariats, departments, and agencies, urging them to comply and obtain their SOPs to avoid missing out on their overheads from August.

The Acting Director of the FCTA Department of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr. Jummai Ahmadu, shed light on the origins of the FCTA SOPs. She explained that they were initiated as part of the Federal Government’s plan to digitalize the civil service for increased effectiveness and efficiency, in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25).

Ahmadu emphasized that the implementation of the SOPs is a prerequisite for the deployment of the Performance Management Systems (PMS). She echoed Adesola’s sentiments, stating, “They signify our commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance and serving our citizens with integrity.”
