Kogi Guber: SDP candidate, Ajaka raises alarm, alleges assassination attempt on his life

The gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the forthcoming Kogi State election, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka has raised alarm over an alleged attempt by some political bigwigs in the state to assassinate him.

Ajaka who spoke on Thursday while featuring on Arise Television, asserted that he had petitioned the Department of State Services, DSS and other security agencies for urgent intervention.

According to him, the secret police have assured him of a proper investigation into the matter.

The SDP candidate also accused the state government of sabotaging freedom of speech in the state, alleging that those who do not support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC are seen as enemies of the government.

He said, “The problem in Kogi is the state government. They are not allowing freedom of speech and choice. Democracy is about allowing people to make their choices.

“What the state government is doing is that they are forcing people. If you are not supporting the candidate of the governor, they see you as an enemy.

“I have written to the Police, DSS, NSA, and the president for their intervention, let everyone be allowed to promote himself or herself

“The DSS responded, saying they are investigating the situation in the state and will get back to us”.
