APC loyalists in Abia celebrate alleged inclusion of chieftain in unconfirmed ministerial list

Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC loyal to Ikechi Emenike, the former governorship candidate of the party in the last general election in Abia State are presently celebrating his rumoured nomination as a minister, by President Bola Tinubu.

Emenike’s name appeared on a trending but unconfirmed list of likely ministers in the present administration.

In the said list, Emenike was named the Minister of Communication and Digital Technology while Ahmed Yusuf from Taraba State was pencilled down for the Minister of State, Communication and Digital Technology.

But the Presidency has already dismissed the lists, saying that the authentic list had not been released yet.

However, the former APC guber candidate has not made any statement concerning his rumoured ministerial nomination but is presently in Abia State elections petition tribunal challenging the victory of Alex Otti of the Labour Party.

However, members of another camp of APC loyal to Uche Ogah, the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, have described the reported nomination of Emenike as fake news, saying that the state chapter of the party is not aware of such a list.

Speaking to Media Talk Africa on Thursday, the Publicity Secretary of the Uche Ogah faction of Abia APC, Ofor Okorie advised President Bola Tinubu to give Abia State Ministerial job to a politician with electoral value and somebody with the capacity to win elections.

Okorie said, “Anybody that President Bola Tinubu will give the Minister representing Abia State should be a person who has electoral value, has followers, is loved by the masses and has the capacity to win elections for APC and has the charisma to reconcile the whole warring factions in Abia State APC to be one united family.”

Recall that the APC won three seats in Abia State during the last general polls, one in the Senate, one in the House of Representatives and one in the Abia State House of Assembly.

Orji Uzor Kalu won the Abia North Senatorial seat, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Okezie Kalu won the Bende Federal constituency while Akaliro Anderson won the Umuahia North seat in the Abia State House of Assembly.
