EPL: Bad news, we’re all so sad – Pochettino on Chelsea star’s surgery

Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has reacted to the news that defender Wesley Fofana has undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery.

Fofana did not travel to the USA for Chelsea’s pre-season tour due to specialist medical assessments, which eventually unfortunately confirmed that an operation was required for the 22-year-old.

Fofana will now be sidelined, and Pochettino believes it was bad news, adding that the entire Chelsea squad is sad.

“It’s really sad, really bad news. We feel so sad. All we can do is help him,” Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Wrexham in Chapel Hill.

“We know it’s a tough injury, but we hope he can be with the team as soon as possible.”
