EPL: Erik ten Hag blocks midfielder he ‘loves so much’ from leaving Man United

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has blocked teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo from leaving Old Trafford this summer.

Ten Hag is said to “love him to madness”, according to The Athletic.

Mainoo, 18, only played three times with the Red Devils’ senior team but he was in line for selection at the end of last season.

He was, however, ruled out with injury.

Despite signing Mason Mount already, the Dutch manager has reportedly blocked a loan move for the player as he ‘loves him to madness’.

According to the report, the Dutchman is said to have been taken aback by the midfielder’s maturity and feels he’s ready to play a part for the first team.

This means that Mainoo may be given some minutes in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup as Ten Hag clearly feels he is too good to send out on loan.

Fred and Scott McTominay are set to leave Old Trafford this summer and this would further open up a spot in United’s squad for Mainoo.
