The Oyo State Government has announced that it has sealed no fewer than five private health facilities in Ibadan, the state capital.
The government made this revelation in a statement available to Media Talk Africa on Friday.
It announced that the five health facilities were sealed as part of measures towards protecting the health and well-being of residents.
Director, Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Rotimi Babalola, in the statement, maintained that the affected healthcare facilities were sealed for non-compliance with regulatory standards.
He added that the facilities were also found guilty of employing unqualified and unlicensed doctors.
He added that during the inspection, several cases such as malpractice, misdiagnoses and inappropriate treatments being administered to unsuspected patients were discovered.
“The inspection revealed alarming evidence of malpractice, misdiagnoses and inappropriate treatments being administered to unsuspected patients. Also, some hospitals were staffed with unqualified personnel who were practising medicine without the required qualifications and licenses.
“This administration underscores its commitment to ensuring that health care services in the Oyo State adhere to the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
“We will not tolerate any compromise in medical standards that could put lives at risk. Our action in closing these hospitals demonstrates our commitment to maintaining quality healthcare delivery within our state,” he said.
