Emefiele: NBA calls for sanction against DSS, NCoS officers over clash at Lagos Court

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has condemned the altercation between the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Correctional Service at a Lagos High Court on Tuesday over who to take custody of the embattled ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, the President of NBA, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Media Talk Africa reported a fight between the Nigerian secret service and NCoS at the Lagos High Court premises.

Maikyau said the incident is evidence of lack of discipline, professionalism and coordination among Nigerian service agencies.

He called on the DSS and NCoS to immediately sanction the officers involved in the chaos.

He added that Nigeria’s security institutions need a complete overhaul to ensure professionalism and synergy.

“The NBA calls on the two agencies to take immediate disciplinary measures against the officers involved in this disgraceful conduct. In addition, there is an urgent need for a complete overhaul of the institutions and a total reorientation of the personnel to achieve professionalism and ensure synergy,” he said.
