NNPP suspends national secretary over alleged anti-party activities

The national secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Oladipupo Olayokun, has been suspended from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

Mr Olayokun, who is also a member of the National Working Committee of the party, was suspended by the executive members of his Ward 5, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspension was contained in a letter addressed to Mr Olayokun, dated August 6 and titled, “Notice of Suspension”.

The letter, which contained his sanction, was officially signed by 25 members of the executive team of the ward, including 25 other ward members.

The NNPP presidential candidate in the last election, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the founder of the party, Boniface Aniebonam, were copied in the letter

The executives also accused the party’s scribe of negligence of duty and encouraging factionalism in the party.

The letter reads: “The suspension of Your Membership is due to total neglect of NNPP at the Ward Level realising you never participated in any party activities.

“In the same Vein, your refusal to vote neither for the Presidential Candidate nor the Governorship Candidate of NNPP at the last General Election was an act of gross indiscipline that must not go unpunished.

“Our investigation at the ward level showed clearly that you committed various offences in contravention to Article 39.2 subsections 1, 2,4,5,6,7 and 11 of NNPP’s 2022 Constitution as amended.

“Consequently we advise you to Stop parading yourself as a member and National Secretary of this Party.”
