South East Governors vow to fight insecurity

South East Governors forum has resolved to fight insecurity decisively in the region individually and collectively, in partnership with the Federal Government and other Stakeholders.

The Chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, made the commendation on Thursday in Enugu state, at the end of their meeting which held at the state government’s house.

According to Governor Uzodinma, the perpetrators of the insecurity in the region and their sponsors are criminals and should not be seen as legitimate agitators.

“We commend the security agencies for their cooperation thus far and encourage them not to relent.

“Therefore, upon arrest, any person or group of persons caught perpetrating any crime should be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land,” Uzodinma said.

The Forum also commended the efforts of security agencies in fighting crimes in the region.

The Forum resolved to hold the security and economic summit on a date to be announced soon.

Those at the meeting include Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State (Chairman); Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State; Dr. Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State; Francis Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State and Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State (Host).
