Hold me responsible if OsunPoly doesn’t resume by Monday – Adewusi

The Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, has assured the students of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree that academic activities would resume by Monday, August 14, 2023.

Adewusi gave this assurance when he addressed students of the institution who protested to the Osun State Secretariat, Abere, on Thursday.

The geputy governor, who said he understood the plight of the students, assured them that he would do all in his capacity to ensure the Osun Poly, Iree campus reopens.

In his words, “If the government says they don’t understand your problem, it is a lie. I am putting myself in your shoes now. You are preparing for an examination and you also have a time limit.

“Unnecessary delay can cause a lot of problems for you. The state government is not unaware of this problem.

“The problem of the school is not your business. It is for you to write your examination and go on holiday.

“Let me tell you authoritatively that by Monday your school will be reopened. Over the weekend, everything will be done by this administration.

“If you don’t reopen by Monday, hold me responsible.”

The students of the institution had on Thursday protested to both the Osun State House of Assembly and the Government Secretariat, Abere.

The students, led by the Student Union Government, SUG president of the school, Azeez Tajudeen Adebayo, had urged the state government to open their school in order for them to continue with their examination.

They also assured the state government that they were not being sponsored but we’re acting because, as stakeholders, they were being negatively affected

Media Talk Africa recalls that the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Osun Poly, Iree Chapter, suspended all academic activities in July in response to the suspension of the Rector, Tajudeen Odetayo, by the State Government.

The State Government had also appointed Kehinde Alabi as Acting Rector, an appointment, which ASUP kicked against.
