NSCDC raids Lagos motel, nabs suspected traffickers

The Lagos Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Monday stated it rescued 4 underaged women from a Motel positioned at Totomu village, round Lagos and Ogun border.

The corps commander, Usman Alfadarai, stated the motel was raided about 11.53 a.m. on August 11.

According to him, the corps’ Anti-Human Trafficking Unit acted on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance to raid the motel.

He stated the motel was found to be participating within the exploitation of underaged women for prostitution and baby labour for rewards.

“Four victims, who. ranged between 15 and 17 years, were successfully rescued from the premises,” he stated,including {that a} feminine suspect was additionally nabbed.

According to the Corps Commander, the apprehended suspect and the rescued victims can be handed over to National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, for additional investigation.

Mr Alfaradai stated that on the identical date, the Corps’ Patrol Team deployed to observe over the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC pipelines successfully thwarted an tried act of vandalism at Idimu, Lagos.

He stated that the suspect was arrested and can be charged to court docket after conclusion of investigation.
