The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to allow female engineers fix the country’s moribund refineries.

The newly-elected APWEN Lagos Chapter Chairman, Mrs Atinuke Owolabi, disclosed this on Saturday.

Her appeal comes amid federal government’s pledge to revamp Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries.

Owolabi assured that female engineers spread across the various arms of the profession can fix the refineries within a year.
“All women engineers are ready to come together and see how we can proffer solutions, ensuring we revamp these refineries”, he stated.

Nigeria heavily depends on the importation of fuel to meet up with the country’s monthly consumption demand.
