Former NBA President Olumide Akpata Resigns from Law Firm, Sets Sights on Governorship Ambition

In a momentous turn of events, the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, has decided to embark on a new chapter in his life by resigning from Templars, a distinguished law firm where he held the position of Senior Partner.

In an official statement released on Thursday, Akpata expressed his unwavering commitment to the cause of nation building, rendering his resignation from the law firm as a step towards achieving this objective.

The news comes shortly after Akpata’s recent affiliation with the Labour Party (LP) and his subsequent declaration of interest in contesting the upcoming governorship election in Edo State.

Templars, in correspondence dated August 24, 2023, confirmed Akpata’s resignation. The firm elucidated that, in accordance with its established protocols, he formally notified the other partners and management of his decision to venture into active politics. Consequently, it was collectively agreed that he would step aside from his responsibilities within the firm, effective Thursday, August 31, 2023.
