The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has emphasized the vital connection between justice and peace, stating that without justice, hope for unity and harmony diminishes. Bello highlighted his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the justice system to ensure equal representation for all tribes.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, made these remarks at the annual event organized by Nigerian Post to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of Kogi State in Lokoja, the state’s capital.

He further asserted that his leadership style, which places individuals from various tribes in positions of authority, fosters peace and tranquillity in the state, effectively eliminating any form of discord. Bello stated, “Justice is integral if we aspire to achieve sustainable peace and unity. It is the bedrock on which any projection of peace and unity must rest.”

During the event, Prof Olayemi Akinwumi, the keynote speaker represented by Prof Musa Abdullahi, praised Governor Bello for his dedication to development planning, which forms the core of any thriving state. Akinwumi also commended Bello’s initiative in establishing projects and implementing the “Neighborhood watch” program, which has contributed to maintaining the state’s security architecture.

Akinwumi emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in all aspects of governance.

The Nigerian Post, under the leadership of Mr Michael Abu, organizes an annual lecture to commemorate the formation of Kogi state. The event serves as a platform for discussing the sustainability of the state and recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions across various sectors.
