Ebonyi: CUPP Calls for Responsible and Transparent Use of Empowerment Schemes by Governor Nwifuru

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) in Ebonyi State has urged Governor Francis Nwifuru to refrain from using empowerment schemes as a means of political patronage.

In a statement signed and issued to journalists on Saturday, Chinedum Elekwachi, the Chairman of CUPP, highlighted the need for the governor to effectively utilize the funds provided by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to alleviate poverty among Ebonyians, rather than using them for political gain.

“The coalition of political parties commends His Excellency Rt Hon Ogbonna Nwifuru for his thoughtful approach and policy direction in lifting Ebonyians out of poverty and eradicating street hawking,” Elekwachi stated.

“This particular policy direction will significantly reduce poverty and promote resourcefulness, leading to increased productivity in the state. However, it is crucial that the empowerment scheme does not become a platform for political patronage,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, the state chairman of CUPP, Elekwachi, advocated for the establishment of an agency with the sole purpose of training and empowering citizens, ensuring it becomes a state policy.

He reassured that CUPP would closely monitor the process to prevent any deviation from the intended objectives.
