President Tinubu Presides Over Inaugural FEC Meeting

President Bola Tinubu is currently leading the inaugural session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This highly-anticipated meeting, which commenced on Monday afternoon, is attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.

Amidst an air of anticipation, the council’s chamber is brimming with esteemed personalities, including Chief of State to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the newly-appointed ministers, and other prominent government functionaries.

According to the Ministers’ Statutory Powers and Duties Act, the Federal Executive Council plays a pivotal role as an advisory body to the President, who also presides as the chairman of the FEC. While the council offers guidance and recommendations, it is the President who ultimately exercises executive decision-making power.

As the highest-level cabinet of the Nigerian federal government, the FEC assumes a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of the country. With the President at the helm, the council’s collective expertise and wisdom help define the government’s course.

The Federal Executive Council encapsulates the essence of the executive branch, working synergistically with the President to provide vital advice and counsel. Together, they form a formidable body, steering the nation towards progress and prosperity.
