The General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Taskforce North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, Major General Godwin Mutkut has commissioned 12 blocks of residential quarters for families of soldiers from corporals and below at Giginya Barracks in Sokoto State, Northwest Nigeria.

Commissioning the projects, General Mutkut charged soldiers of the 8 Division to reciprocate Army High Commands’ renovation efforts of accommodations in the Nigerian Army Barracks across the country by discharging their duties wholeheartedly.

He noted that the need to pay adequate attention to troops’ accommodation needs cannot be overemphasized in the Nigerian Army.

When troops and their families are well accommodated it will not only serve as a morale booster but will increase the quest to achieving the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy which is ” To Transform the Nigerian Army into a well – trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force towards Achieving Our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment.

“Also when they realized that the home fronts have been taken care of especially where it affects accommodation,”  General Mutkut stated.

The GOC further stated that the renovation of the structures was carried out under the Army Headquarters Special Projects which gives room for mitigating troops’ accommodation challenges in Nigerian Army Barracks across the country.

He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his overwhelming support towards the completion of all intervention projects in Nigerian Army Barracks across the country.

The projects commissioned include 12 Blocks of 12 families of corporal below quarters that were renovated and fully furnished for the comfort of soldiers and their families.
