In a bold call to action, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has urged state governors to seize the opportunity presented by the Electricity Act and implement strategies that will enable them to generate power independently. Emphasizing that the era of relying solely on the national grids for power generation is coming to a close, the NSE has challenged the governors to take immediate action in supplying power to their residents.
During his presentation at the 2023 Engineering Week of the Jalingo branch, Vice President of the NSE, Danladi Adamu, highlighted that state governors no longer have to depend on the national grid for power supply. He urged them to form partnerships with experienced power generation companies or investors to achieve this crucial objective.
Adamu also directed his attention to the Taraba State Government, urging them to take steps to expand the Mambilla beverage industry to boost productivity. Specifically, he recommended enlarging the tea farm, procuring additional equipment, and constructing the Tunga Damā€”actions that would enhance productivity and generate revenue for the state.
Located in Mambilla Plateau within the Sardauna Local Government Council of the state, the tea factory in question is recognized as the largest in West Africa.
