The Economic Realities of Nigeria: Soludo Advocates for the Removal of Fuel Subsidy

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has praised President Bola Tinubu for his bold decision to end fuel subsidy, stating that it is a necessary step towards re-engineering the nation’s economy. Speaking at the 9th (7th Quadrennial) Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Anambra State wing, Soludo emphasized the importance of living within the country’s means.

Soludo highlighted the need for everyone, especially those in leadership positions, to acknowledge and demonstrate that Nigeria is a poor country. He noted that the removal of subsidy has affected all individuals, not just civil servants, and commended the present administration for implementing comprehensive measures to cushion the immediate and medium-term effects.

Furthermore, Soludo pledged to prioritize education by recruiting more teachers and ensuring accessible and high-quality education for all citizens.
