Imo killings: Lawmakers ask FG to urgently intervene in Ideato

Following the activities of the unknown gunmen wreaking havoc in Imo State particularly Ideato North Local Government Area of the state, Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to intervene immediately.

Agbese made the call in a statement he issued on Tuesday in reaction to an alarm earlier raised by his colleague, Hon. Ikenga Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere representing Ideato North/ South Federal Constituency at the lower chamber.

Media Talk Africa reports that several villagers in Ndi-Imoko in Arondizuogu in Ideato LG had since over three months ago, absconded from their ancestral homes following the activities of the criminal elements.

Recall that the former Sole Administrator of the Ideato North LGA of the state, Chris Ohizu was beheaded in January 2023 as captured in a viral video.

Lamenting the plight of the people, Agbese the member representing Ado /Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State said “every part of Nigeria and all citizens deserve equal privileges and opportunities irrespective of religion and tribe.

“The current situation in Ideato is pathetic and worrisome, to say the least. Insecurity is the day’s order. There is no sign of government presence there.

“I want to use this medium to call on the Federal Government to pay attention to the cry of these people. As a listening father, I know President Bola Tinubu will act but we want it done swiftly,” the statement added.
