Nigeria’s active voice subscribers in the telecommunications sector increased by 13.33 per cent to 226,161,713 in the first quarter of 2023 from 199,558,540 reported in Q1 2022.
Also, the data revealed that the total number of active internet subscribers rose by 8.02 per cent to 157,551,104 from 145,851,496 reported in Q1 2022.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed this in its “Telecoms Data: Active Voice and Internet per State, Porting, and Tariff Information (Q1 2023)” report on Thursday.
Meanwhile, on a state-by-state analysis, Lagos State had the highest number of active voice subscribers in Q1 2023 with 26,716,136, followed by Ogun with 13,241,205, and Kano with 12,567,096.
On the other hand, Bayelsa recorded the least with 1,635,020, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,987,485 and 2,040,920, respectively.
Regarding active internet subscribers, Lagos State had the highest number of active internet subscribers in Q1 2023 with 18,778,744, followed by Ogun with 9,352,222, and Kano with 8,680,524.
Bayelsa recorded the least with 1,147,672, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,330,586 and 1,474,604, respectively.
