Tinubu was my classmate at Chicago State University — Ogunsanya

A data and public affairs analyst, Durojaiye Ogunsanya, has said that President Bola Tinubu was his classmate at the Chicago State University.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Tinubu’s claim of graduating from the university has remained a subject of debate before and after the 2023 presidential election.

Though the university has said the president graduated from the institution, many Nigerians, especially his political opponents, have doubted the claim due to some purported errors contained in the certificate issued to him.

They also wondered why no ex-student of the institution has ever come out to corroborate the president’s claim.

But speaking during an interview with the TVC News on Tuesday, Mr Ogunsanya affirmed that the President attended the university and that they both graduated in 1979.

He said: “We met in the school, Chicago State University, and we were in the same department, College of Accounting, Business, and Administrative, with a major in Accounting, and we were in the same class together, and we graduated.

“He did attend the university, and he graduated in 1979, the same year as I did. I am here to testify that he did attend university and he was a good student.

“I’m here with my diploma, for the world to see. We graduated together from the university. I just want to set the record straight not for any gain or favour.”
