The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has called on the newly elected leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to make efforts to reconcile with aggrieved members who left during the party primaries in the state. This, he emphasized, is crucial for the party’s progress and the overall development of the state.

Abdullahi made this plea during a visit with other APC members of the House to congratulate the new party officials in Lafia on Monday. He expressed his appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule and other party leaders for electing Aliyu Bello as chairman and Yarus Dagusa as secretary of the party in the state.

The speaker highlighted that the APC is still grappling with the aftermath of the crisis caused by the party primaries. He urged the new leadership to bring back those members who departed due to grievances in order to unite and strengthen the party for future elections.

Addressing the chairman directly, Abdullahi stated, “We believe in your capability and capacity, as you have all that it takes to deliver. You are the right person for the job at the moment in order to take our great party, APC, to the next level of development.”

He acknowledged that some party members left due to perceived injustices or a lack of fairness during the primaries and appealed for their return. Abdullahi further emphasized that the APC is a party of the people, and it is essential to restore its lost glory.

The speaker assured the new leadership of the party of his and the House’s loyalty and support to ensure their success. Furthermore, he called on opposition parties to support Governor Sule’s administration to bring about effective governance for the people.

Abdullahi concluded by expressing confidence in the outcome of the defence presented by the party at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. He firmly believes that victory will be attained.

In response, Aliyu Bello, the state APC chairman, appreciated the speaker and other members for their visit. He commended the Speaker for his achievements, being the first speaker to be elected three times in the state. Bello expressed the party’s high regard for the Speaker and the House members.

Bello also expressed his satisfaction that the leadership crisis within the state legislature has been peacefully resolved. He assured his commitment to reconciling all factions within the party for its benefit. Additionally, he advised the lawmakers to work in unity and promised to collaborate with them in advancing the state’s overall development.
