Kwara State Government Provides Relief Items to Inmates in a Bid to Enhance Welfare

In a commendable effort to improve the wellbeing of inmates in Correctional Services across Kwara State, located in the North Central region of Nigeria, the State Government, led by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, recently made a generous donation of items worth millions of naira to the State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Command’s headquarters, was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Mahe Aliyu Abdulkadir, who represented Governor AbdulRazaq. The Secretary expressed that this act of goodwill occurred just four months into the Governor’s second term in office.

Among the items donated to the inmates were essential toiletries, comfortable mattresses and blankets, sewing machines to promote vocational training, solar lights for improved lighting in the facilities, bathing soaps and detergents for personal hygiene, and bathroom slippers for increased comfort.

It is important to note that this donation by the State Government serves to strengthen the overall welfare of inmates across the various Correctional Centres in Kwara State.

The Controller of Correctional Services, Kwara Command, Oyin Adeyinka Adebayo, who represented Controller General Haliru Nababa, gratefully received the donated items on behalf of the Command. He wholeheartedly appreciated the government’s gesture, acknowledging that it would significantly contribute to enhancing the welfare of the inmates.

In recognizing the critical role of parental care in reducing criminal activities, the Controller emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the proper care and support of the inmates.
