Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has joined fellow Muslim believers in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, to bid farewell to Khadi Shehu Imam, a highly esteemed Islamic scholar and the father of Alhaji Mohammed Imam, a former Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State.

Khadi Imam passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 25.

The funeral prayers, or Jana’iza, were attended by a massive crowd and were held at the residence of the revered centenarian in the old GRA area of Maiduguri. The late Khadi Imam was then laid to rest at the Gwange Cemetery in the state capital.

In his prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed Islamic scholar, Vice President Shettima emphasized that Khadi Imam was not only cherished in Borno State and Northern Nigeria, but was esteemed nationwide as well.

Furthermore, the Vice President described the late scholar as an iconic figure whose legacy will transcend generations. He highlighted Khadi Imam’s philanthropy, exemplary character, and his role as an elder statesman known for fostering peace and harmony throughout his life.

“As we mourn the loss of Khadi Imam, we also celebrate him as an iconic figure. May Allah grant him eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant his family, the people of Borno State, and the entire nation the strength to endure this irreversible loss,” VP Shettima prayed.

Among the notable mourners present at the funeral were Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi, the Shehu of Borno; Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State; Umar Kadafur, Deputy Governor of Borno State; and Abubakar Kyari, along with others.
