Unidentified gunmen launched an attack on Thursday, setting ablaze the residence of Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu (Omeogo), the Federal House of Representatives member representing Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.

Attack on House of Reps Member

A local resident, Peter Anaele, reported that the incident took place in the early hours of Thursday morning at Isioma, Abara village, Amanator Okporo Community in Orlu Local Government Area. Chief Nwachukwu was not present at home when the gunmen infiltrated his residence.

Violent Act

The assailants, armed with firearms, explosives, and other dangerous weapons, took the domestic staff hostage at gunpoint before proceeding to set the building on fire. They also vandalized and looted the property, while recording videos of the frightened staff and issuing threats of further attacks. The attackers used two 20-liter kegs to transport petrol, which they used to ignite the buildings along with explosives, bombs, and dynamites.

The incident has instilled a sense of panic and fear within the community, as residents grapple with the aftermath of this horrifying attack. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, leaving the community members on edge.
