Senator Shehu Sani, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for its recent judgement.
The media was thrown into disarray on Thursday following the tribunal’s ruling on the petition filed by the PDP and its candidate, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, regarding the March 18 governorship election.
Various reports initially presented conflicting information. Some claimed that the court had affirmed the election of Governor Ubah Sani after dismissing the PDP’s petition, while others suggested that the tribunal had actually nullified the governor’s election, deeming it inconclusive.
Eventually, it was confirmed that the tribunal had upheld the governor’s election.
In a post on his X account, Shehu Sani expressed his dissatisfaction with the tribunal judges, accusing them of delivering a confusing verdict.
According to Sani, the judges cowardly attempted to please both the PDP and the ruling party with their judgement.
He wrote, “The Judges for the Kaduna Election Tribunal spent four months and ended up giving a judgement aimed at appeasing both sides and leaving both sides ‘confidently floating in the stream of doubt’.”
