The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, has given a resolute assurance that the Nigerian military will successfully eradicate bandits and terrorists from the country. Maj.-Gen. Musa reaffirmed this commitment during a courtesy visit to Governor Uba Sani at the government house in Kaduna.

Maj.-Gen. Musa stated, “For terrorists and bandits, it’s just a matter of time. We are coming after them and we are determined to completely expel them from our nation.”

The CDS emphasized that the military is enhancing its operations to be more effective and results-oriented. The theatres of operation are undergoing re-assessment to ensure a stronger and more proactive approach to tackling security challenges. The Nigerian military is prepared to utilize both kinetic and non-kinetic methods to counter these threats.

Maj.-Gen. Musa urged military personnel to deploy a combination of these approaches, including deploying additional troops to close security gaps and impede the free movement of terrorists.

Furthermore, he called on every citizen to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reminding them that security is a collective responsibility.

The CDS also expressed the military’s determination to restore peace in Kaduna state, given its strategic significance and its reputation as a home to people from all walks of life. He assured that the military will overcome current security and economic challenges.

Governor Uba Sani reiterated the state government’s plea for the sustained presence of Special Forces in the ongoing campaign against banditry and terrorism. He also requested the expansion of Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna to include Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Kauru, and Sanga Local Government Areas (LGAs). This expansion would effectively address threats and reinforce ongoing efforts in those areas.

The governor further stressed the need for measures to restrict bandits and terrorists in the Birnin Gwari general area from using the Kudaru, Kuyanbana, and Kamuku forests as hideouts. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of securing corridors that connect Birnin Gwari with Zamfara, Niger, and Katsina, and preventing criminals from exploiting these routes.

Governor Uba Sani highlighted the establishment of inter-state collaboration among governors in the fight against banditry and terrorism. He assured the CDS of his continuous support, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with the military.

The governor concluded by saying, “Remember that you can always count on our earnest prayers, sincere support, and best wishes as you lead the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
