The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed his joy and congratulations to Nigerians on the 63rd Independence Anniversary of our nation. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence is vital for national growth and development.

In addition, he praised the quality leadership of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and called on the residents of Kwara to continue praying for unity and harmony, not just in the state but in Nigeria as a whole.

The Emir, in a statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, commended the fearless efforts of national heroes such as the late Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of the Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and other nationalists who fought vigorously for Nigeria’s independence on 1st October 1960.

He also acknowledged that traditional institutions play a significant role in maintaining peace and security in our nation. The Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council remains committed to supporting governments at all levels to ensure peace and harmony in the state.

On behalf of the entire members of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of the state and Nigerians at large for this year’s Independence anniversary celebrations.

He further urged the people of Ilorin Emirate and beyond to continue embracing peace, prayer, love for one another, and to reject all actions that could cause discord in our society.

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, also joined in congratulating Nigerians on the nation’s 63rd independence anniversary. He commended their resilience thus far and emphasized the need to remain supportive, patriotic, and dedicated to building a nation that we can all be proud of.

In his independence message, Danladi-Salihu highlighted the challenges and success stories of Nigeria’s journey since gaining sovereignty. He called on Nigerians to remain united and dedicated to making Nigeria the best place to live in Africa and beyond.

Furthermore, he praised Nigerians for their resilience and appealed for more patience, understanding, and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq as they work tirelessly to find lasting solutions to the current challenges facing us, particularly the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

On behalf of himself, the Kwara State House of Assembly, and the APC Conference of Speakers, Danladi-Salihu congratulated Nigerians and wished them a happy independence anniversary.

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment, also rejoiced with Nigerians on the occasion of our nation’s 63rd independence anniversary. He called on all citizens and the government to continue working towards the unity, peace, and progress of the country.

In his statement, Senator Umar acknowledged the sacrifices made by our past heroes and urged Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to explore every democratic tool available for the greater good of our nation. He emphasized that the National Assembly, being a vital democratic institution, will continue to enact laws that promote unity, progress, and growth in Nigeria.

He also urged Nigerians not to lose hope during these challenging times but to pray for and support their leaders, having faith in them as they steer the affairs of our nation in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of Mr. President.

Senator Umar stressed that with a united and peaceful democratic system, there is nothing we cannot achieve in Nigeria.

Overall, it is heartening to see our nation’s leaders coming together to commemorate our independence and emphasize the importance of unity, peace, and progress for the betterment of our great country.
