Group decries rising cases of cultism, poverty in Ebonyi group, petitions Nwifuru

A youth group on the platform of Vanguard for Good Governance, has petitioned the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, over the rising cases of cultism, social vices and alarming poverty in Oriuzor community in Ezza North LGA.

The National President of the group, Comrade Igiri Innocent, equally called for the prompt intervention of traditional rulers, political and religious leaders in Ezza North LGA, to ensure that the community is emancipated from poverty, illiteracy and cultism.

Igiri, who made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State on Friday, said that the illiteracy and poverty level in Oriuzor community is extremely high and needed the intervention of the Governor Nwifuru-led administration.

According to him: “Oriuzor in Ezza North LGA needs serious intervention. That community has been bedevilled by so many factors ranging from cultism to illiteracy and poverty, which is mostly attributed to the kind of leaders that have been in charge of the people’s affairs.”

Igiri noted further that the intervention of the governor, Nwifuru, traditional rulers and political bigwigs will go along way in ensuring that there is peace, unity and progress in Oriuzor community.

“We encourage the state government, traditional rulers, political and religious leaders to do more to bring Oriuzor to the shining spot of the state of Ebonyi,” he said.
