It was a double victory for Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, as the governorship election petition tribunal, sitting in Umuahia, dismissed the petition brought by Ikechi Emenike, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the March 18 guber polls.
The tribunal in its ruling, dismissed the matter brought by Emenike against Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party, saying it lacked in merit.
Emenike, who was challenging the declaration of Otti as the duly elected governor of Abia, alleged that Otti, who was a member of APC before joining LP, did not resign his membership of the APC.
He also claimed that the name of Alex Otti was not in the register of the LP when the party nominated him as its candidate.
The APC chieftain in his petition, joined Okey Ahaiwe of PDP, Enyinnaya Nwafor of YPP and the Independent National Electoral, INEC in his suit.
But the tribunal while delivering its judgement, at about 6:PM, said the petitions lacked in merit and was strange to jurisprudence.
The ruling came about six hours after the tribunal had also dismissed the petition brought by Okey Ahaiwe, candidate of the PDP in the March 18 polls.
