Teachers Urge Taraba Governor to Ensure Remittance of Checkup Dues

The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Taraba State has appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas to intervene in the issue of the withheld checkup dues by the leadership of the State Primary Education Board. These dues have been withheld for over two years, causing great concern for the union.

In a press statement released on Monday, Nathan Solomon, the Chairman of the state NUT, expressed the union’s frustration with the Board’s refusal to remit the dues. Despite their efforts to retrieve the funds, they have been unsuccessful, leading them to seek the governor’s intervention.

“For over two years, we have been operating without the remittance of checkup dues,” Solomon said. “The Board has withheld the funds, and we are pleading with the governor to address this matter.”

In addition to the issue of the checkup dues, Solomon also emphasized the union’s support for the current state government and urged Governor Kefas to address the issue of five months’ salary arrears owed to teachers by the previous administration.
