Governor Zulum Distributes N125m and Food to 40,000 Families in Konduga LGA

On Thursday, Governor Babagana Zulum oversaw the distribution of N125m, as well as food and non-food items, to more than 40,000 families in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to provide support to the community during these challenging times.

The distribution took place at three different locations, with the objective of alleviating the difficulties faced by residents due to the removal of fuel subsidies by the federal government in May 2023.

A total of 15,000 male heads of households received a 25 kg bag of rice and a 10 kg bag of beans each. Additionally, 25,000 females were provided with N5,000 cash and a wrapper.

Mr. Zulum emphasized that this distribution is a continuation of the government’s commitment to assist vulnerable individuals in the state. He stated, “We are here in Konduga. In today’s distribution, about 25,000 vulnerable women each received a wrapper and N5,000, totaling approximately N125m. In addition to this, we also distributed a bag of 25kg rice and 10kg beans each to 15,000 male heads of households.”

In July, the state government commenced the distribution of fuel subsidy removal palliatives to approximately 300,000 households in the state, prioritizing communities that have been most affected by insurgency. Subsequently, the governor expanded the distribution to 400,000 households.

This initiative by Governor Zulum showcases the government’s commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by families in Konduga LGA. The distribution of financial aid and food supplies serves as a lifeline for many, providing them with the means to sustain themselves during these challenging times.
