President Tinubu, who shares a longstanding bond with the respected monarch, celebrated Oba Akiolu on his milestone 80th birthday.
Expressing his gratitude, the President acknowledged the Eleko of Eko for his unwavering prayers and support, highlighting his invaluable interventions during challenging times.
“Oba Akiolu and I have traversed a long and remarkable journey. He is not just my confidant, but also a close friend whom I hold in the highest regard for his unwavering integrity, honour, and forthrightness. His wise counsel and fatherly guidance have always been generously bestowed upon me.”
“Baba,” as he is affectionately called, stands as an indomitable champion of truth and advocate for his people. I owe a significant portion of my achievements as the former Governor of Lagos State to his unwavering support and counsel. The reign of His Majesty has ushered in peace, progress, and development for the good people of Lagos,” President Tinubu affirms.
President Tinubu concludes his tribute by offering prayers for the Oba’s continued long life and an enduring, prosperous reign on his ancestral throne.
The Oba of Lagos has amassed a remarkable array of accomplishments throughout his reign. Before ascending the throne, he achieved great heights in his professional career, retiring as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police. The Oba is also a distinguished fellow of the Nigerian Law School.
