Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently presiding over this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which began at 10:00 AM in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Among those present are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan; and the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

Several ministers are attending the meeting in person, including Niyi Adebayo, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Health; Dr. Chris Ngige; Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing; Mohammad Abubakar, the Minister of Agriculture; Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation; Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior; Umana Umana, the Minister of Niger Delta; Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports; and Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Justice. Additional attendees include Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance; Pauline Tallen, the Minister of Women Affairs; Mu’azu Sambo, the Minister of Transportation; Mohammed Abdullahi, the Minister of Environment; Mohammed Bello, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Prof. Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy; Olorunimbe Mamora, the Minister of Science and Technology; and Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture.

Notably, President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) is absent from today’s meeting as he is in Dakar, Senegal, attending the high-level Dakar 2 Summit hosted by President Macky Sall, who is also the chairperson of the African Union. This marks the second consecutive FEC meeting that the President has missed. Additionally, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar; and National Security Adviser, Mohammed Babagana Monguno, are also not present, as they are part of the President’s entourage in Dakar. They are expected to return to the country later on Wednesday.
