The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council has condemned the attack on its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, which occurred in Katsina on Tuesday. In a statement issued by Diran Onifade, the Head of Media for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, the council expressed disapproval of the attack and conveyed optimism regarding the youth’s determination to reclaim their country.

The statement detailed that Mr. Obi had engaged with women in a town hall meeting and subsequently held a highly successful rally at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium. However, while en route to the airport, hoodlums attacked the vehicle carrying Mr. Obi, throwing heavy stones from the driver’s side and causing significant damage to the car. Fortunately, Mr. Obi and the other occupants were unharmed.

Additionally, another group of thugs hurled stones outside the stadium, damaging several vehicles, including those belonging to the official stage crew. The council suspects that these incidents may have been premeditated, orchestrated by desperate politicians who had previously believed they had secured the North West but are now taken aback by the strength of the Obidient movement in the region.

In closing, the council expressed gratitude to the people of Katsina who turned out in large numbers to support the campaign. They also called on security agencies to investigate the incidents to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Mr. Obi’s visit to Katsina was part of his ongoing presidential campaign in anticipation of the upcoming general elections.
