The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has pledged to transform Abia State into a major exporter of manufactured goods if elected. He made this promise during a rally at the Umuahia Township Stadium, where he addressed a large crowd on Tuesday. Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, praised the work ethic of the people of Abia and committed to creating an environment that would allow them to thrive in their chosen endeavors.

In a statement from the Tinubu Media Office, signed by Tunde Rahman, Tinubu emphasized Abia’s potential as a hub for production and industry. He expressed optimism about achieving unprecedented industrial activity in the state, stating, “Aba market is one of the largest in West Africa. I see it becoming a major exporter of all types of manufactured goods to Asia, North and South America, and Europe.” He envisioned a vibrant state bustling with industrial activity, producing everything from clothing to cars, appliances, and computer components. To facilitate this growth, he promised to improve infrastructure, including roads, waterways, ports, rail, and reliable power supply, thereby enhancing trade, export, travel, and tourism.

Tinubu also addressed the youth of Abia, expressing his enthusiasm for their potential. “The teeming youth population standing before me makes my heart glad. We have good plans for you! God’s Own Youths! You are blessed! We will empower you,” he said. He outlined his plans to create jobs by providing tax incentives and employment credits to employers, encouraging them to hire young people. Additionally, he announced a digital economy initiative aimed at generating one million new jobs in information and communication technology (ICT) within the first 24 months of his administration. He also committed to investing in an educational system designed to equip the youth with globally competitive skills, ensuring they enjoy a good standard of living.

Furthermore, Tinubu discussed his national security policy, which aims to foster a peaceful living environment free from violence and fear. He proposed utilizing advanced technological platforms for surveillance and tracking to combat insecurity, particularly against kidnappers and violent criminals. He assured that security forces would receive better training and compensation, emphasizing the need for them to exercise restraint when necessary while demonstrating strength when required. “This nation will be a safe and prosperous place to live in,” he concluded.
