Reps seat: Appeal Court sacks LP’s Nwodo

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, on Monday, nullified the election of Stainless Nwodo, a member representing Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani federal constituency of Enugu State within the House of Representatives.

The appellate courtroom declared that Rt. Hon. Martins Oke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gained the February election.

Media Talk Africa recollects that the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Enugu had, on September 8, upheld the election of the LP candidate.

The candidate of the PDP, Oke, and his All Progressives Congress, APC, counterpart, Samuel Ekwueme, had challenged Nwodo’s victory on the tribunal.

The duo requested the tribunal to sack the LP candidate over alleged certificates forgery and irregularities throughout the election. But the courtroom struck out their petitions.

The PDP and APC candidate, nonetheless, dragged Nwodo to the enchantment courtroom, insisting that he was not certified to run for the election.

In a judgement delivered by way of Zoom on Monday, the appellate courtroom mentioned that the Labour Party candidate wasn’t certified to face for the election and that the enchantment had deserves.

The panel mentioned they may give particulars of the ruling on a later date.
