In a devastating turn of events, suspected bandits unleashed terror in Gada community, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, leaving in their wake a trail of death and abduction.
According to Ibrahim Musa, a villager who witnessed the harrowing ordeal, the assailants, armed to the teeth with sophisticated weaponry, descended on the village at approximately 6 pm last Saturday. In a brazen display of violence, they opened fire without discrimination, resulting in the tragic loss of seven lives. Additionally, numerous individuals were ruthlessly snatched from their community.
This barbaric attack unfolded just one day after the departure of the governor, who headed to Imo State to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) team for the gubernatorial election.
Expressing his anguish, Musa called upon the federal government to intervene decisively in the ongoing crisis in Zamfara State. He highlighted the urgent and escalating nature of the situation, stressing that the safety of the state’s residents is perilously compromised.
“The state is engulfed in a climate of fear and insecurity. It is imperative for the federal government to bolster the security presence in Zamfara State significantly to quell the relentless activities of these notorious bandits,” he pleaded.
Despite attempts by reporters in Gusau, the state capital, to solicit a response from the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, no official statement was forthcoming at the time of this report.
