The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to providing uninterrupted aviation services to its clients. This assurance comes in the wake of disruptions caused by an industrial action initiated by members of the National Union of Air Transport Employees and the Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association. The strike was driven by demands for a salary increase and dissatisfaction with NAHCO’s perceived unwillingness to meet these demands.

In a public disclosure signed by the Company’s Secretary, Bello Abdullahi, NAHCO acknowledged that the industrial action violated an interim injunction granted by the National Industrial Court on January 20, 2023. However, the company noted that the strike had minimal impact on its operations, as it lasted only a few hours.

Looking ahead, NAHCO outlined several resolutions reached during meetings with the unions and other key stakeholders. These resolutions include the discontinuation of the lawsuit filed against the NUATE and ATTSSSAN unions at the National Industrial Court, as well as the issuance of a counteroffer to the unions’ demands by NAHCO management before the close of business on January 23, 2023. Additionally, negotiations regarding salary increments are set to commence on January 25, 2023, with a goal of concluding by January 28, 2023. The company also emphasized the immediate resumption of all staff to work and assured that there would be no victimization of employees who participated in the strike action.
