Super Eagles Poised for Victory in AFCON, Says Onyeka

Frank Onyeka, the Nigerian professional footballer, is confident in the Super Eagles’ ability to emerge victorious in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The squad, under the guidance of Jose Peseiro, is determined to clinch their fourth title as they gear up for the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire next January.

The three-time African champions have been drawn into Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, setting the stage for an exhilarating display of football prowess.

Onyeka, who currently plies his trade with the renowned Premier League club, Brentford, exudes optimism about the Super Eagles’ contention for the prestigious title. “Look at the squad we’ve got, we can go there and win it. We’ve got Osimhen, Boniface, Awoniyi — they are all doing well in Europe,” the midfielder expressed during an exclusive interview with Livescore.

“So we’ve got a good team and we can go and win. We have plenty of past players who have done well for Nigeria but now for us as players, we need to focus on ourselves and as a team to do what we need to do to make our nation proud,” Onyeka added, emphasizing the collective commitment required to achieve success at the tournament.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to commence their campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe on January 14, setting the stage for an electrifying start to their AFCON journey. Subsequently, they will face formidable clashes against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau on January 18 and January 22 respectively, as they strive to advance through the tournament with unwavering determination.
