Wuro-Chekke, a bustling residential community nestled in the heart of Yola South Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has imposed a ban on scavengers from conducting their operations within its vicinity. Additionally, the community’s leadership has restricted the entry of individuals after 11 pm, necessitating prior permission for any nocturnal movement.

During a gathering of key stakeholders on Monday, a unanimous decision was reached to empower the community’s vigilante operatives and leaders to promptly enforce the newly established regulations.

Alhaji Sa’ad Mohammed, the esteemed village head of Wuro-Chekke, issued the directive following extensive deliberations, primarily revolving around the recent abduction of a noteworthy architect and a revered journalist who both reside within the community.

Usman Sahabi, a respected reporter affiliated with the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, was abducted from his residence in Wuro-Chekke a fortnight ago. His harrowing ordeal lasted six agonizing days before his eventual release.

Emanating from the village head’s proclamation is a solemn communal mandate for all denizens to exercise heightened vigilance and proactively contribute to the community’s safety. This entails extending unreserved support to vigilantes, the police, and other security forces by promptly furnishing them with crucial information pivotal for eradicating criminal elements from the community.

The village head further admonished individuals who provide succor to criminals to desist from their deleterious activities or seek dwelling elsewhere.

In corroboration, the Divisional Police Officer overseeing Yola South, Mohammed Sani, and the Divisional Crime Officer of Wuro-Chekke, Gabriel Markus, earnestly implored the citizenry to collaborate with law enforcement in a bid to stem the tide of criminal activities.
