A train traveling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed at Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday. This incident occurred just a few days after another train derailed at KM 30 on the Ajaokuta-Itakpe section of the track. Approximately 148 passengers and 30 crew members on board the train were left stranded in a forest in Kogi State, but fortunately, no lives were lost during this incident.

A source within the Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed the derailment at Kubwa Station. The source indicated that the train was en route from Kaduna and mentioned that they were awaiting a rail bus to transport some staff members to the scene of the incident. It was noted that most passengers had likely disembarked at Kubwa Station, and that three coaches and the locomotive had derailed. However, the source did not provide any information regarding the cause of the derailment.
