Governor Abdulrazaq Urges Corps Members to Drive National Development

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has urged newly deployed Corps Members to actively contribute to the nation’s development during their service year. Addressing them through his Senior Special Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Sa’adu Salahu at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, the Governor emphasized the importance of their role in nation building.

He encouraged the Corps Members to emulate their predecessors who made significant contributions to national development through Community Development Service projects. Governor Abdulrazaq also assured the Corps Members of their welfare and security during their service year.

Emphasizing the peaceful nature of Kwara State, the Governor highlighted the state’s reputation for harmony, citing it as having the highest number of inter-tribal marriages in the country. However, he cautioned the Corps Members against getting involved in local politics or disrespecting the cultural values of their host communities.

During the event, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa, emphasized the preparedness of the scheme for the successful orientation exercise. He disclosed that the entire camp had been fumigated to create a conducive environment for the new stream of Corps Members. Olaoluwa also mentioned the engagement of additional personnel and the implementation of strict hygiene measures to ensure the well-being of the Corps Members.

Furthermore, the Camp’s regimented environment was highlighted, with a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline. Olaoluwa outlined various activities available to the Corps Members, including Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, lectures, physical exercises, games, and sports. He also stressed the importance of disclosing their health status to receive adequate medical attention during their service year.

Notable attendees at the occasion included the chairman of NYSC State Governing Board, Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Usman Yunusa Lade, and the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, represented by Justice Hannah Ajayi. Also present were the Senior Assistant to the Governor on Religion, Alhaji Ibrahim Dan magoro, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Babatunde Alabere.
