The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Prof. Mohammed Haruna, recently announced that the agency has developed 150 innovative products. These innovations span various sectors and regions of the national economic landscape, and Haruna expressed optimism that many made-in-Nigeria products will soon enter the market as a result of these inventions. He shared this information while speaking with journalists in Lagos after receiving the Public Service Icon Award from The Sun Publishing Limited.
Haruna highlighted that NASENI is undergoing a significant developmental transformation, largely due to President Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to fully activate the agency’s founding Act. He stated, “The new NASENI was made possible by the support and commitments of the governing board, the management and staff of NASENI, and all its development institutes and centers across the country.” He emphasized that the collective efforts and achievements within the NASENI system have been recognized nationally, particularly the development of over 150 innovative products that are the results of research aimed at fostering development.
Furthermore, Haruna elaborated on how the full activation of the law by President Buhari has facilitated rapid and sustainable inventions at NASENI. He noted, “Under my leadership, NASENI is undergoing developmental transformation through the full activation of the law that establishes the agency under the present administration.” He characterized the new NASENI as a model agency exemplifying the rule of law in action. Haruna extended his sincere appreciation to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, who also chairs the NASENI governing board, for his commitment to ensuring that the rule of law prevails and for granting the necessary approvals for the evolution of a new NASENI.
