Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has affirmed his commitment to advancing the reform agenda within the state’s mining sector, with a focus on leveraging its mineral resources for maximum benefit.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting with the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers at the state secretariat in Abere, Governor Adeleke outlined his administration’s dedication to enhancing the state’s internally generated revenue while ensuring a fair tax system for citizens.
“The reform of the solid mineral sector is ongoing. The goal is to ensure maximum benefit for the state from her natural resources. We are working to improve internally generated revenue without imposing an excessive tax burden on our people,” Governor Adeleke expressed.
Highlighting the accountable management of federal interventions under his leadership, the governor emphasized the transparent distribution of recent palliative measures and the creation of a dedicated project account to manage the N7 billion federal intervention fund. This fund, alongside substantial state investments, is intended to address Osun’s infrastructure deficit.
Adeleke also underscored his administration’s commitment to responsible leadership, stating, “In recent months, following the economic crisis triggered at the national level, we implemented palliative administration in transparent and accountable manners. We did not hoard palliative materials. We rather allowed the public through various associations to handle the distribution.”
The governor’s assurance of conscientious governance and equitable resource management reflects his vision for sustainable development and economic stability in Osun State, positioning the mining sector as a pivotal driver of growth.
With Adeleke’s unwavering pledge to propel mining reforms and foster fiscal prudence, Osun’s trajectory signals a determined stride towards harnessing its natural wealth for the collective prosperity of its people.
