In a significant political move, Chief Mathew Avre Ombugaku, the former gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa State, has made an official defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The momentous announcement was made during a reception held in honor of Senator Solomon Akku Ewuga at City Hall in Lafia. The event was marked by the warm reception of Chief Ombugaku and other key political figures into the APC fold by the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Senator Solomon Akku Ewuga.

The high-profile defection also saw the likes of Dr. Alfa Yusufu Tsenya, a former senatorial candidate of APGA in Nasarawa North; Aliyu Safiyanu, popularly known as Mai Zuma, a former SDP House of Representatives candidate; Zubairu Abdullahi Musa; and Musa Salihu Iyimoga, who represented Doma North Constituency in the 6th Assembly on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), joining Chief Ombugaku in crossing over to the APC.

The reception was graced by the presence of prominent figures including Governor Abdullahi Sule, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Senator George Akume, and House of Representatives member Jeremiah Umaru, signifying the significance of the political realignment.

This development marks a potentially transformative moment in Nasarawa State’s political landscape and is expected to have far-reaching implications for the state and beyond, underscoring the ever-evolving dynamics of Nigerian politics.
