Alhaji Abbas Njiddah Tafida, the son of the Emir of Muri, has secured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidacy for the Yoro/Jalingo/Zing federal constituency’s upcoming by-election in Taraba state.

The PDP primary, held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, witnessed Tafida’s emergence as the consensus candidate. Notably, six other candidates withdrew from the contest shortly before the election commenced.

Dignitaries who graciously stepped aside included former Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bello Yero; Saleh Sa’ad, Chairman of the Taraba State Parliamentary Committee; Hassan Bappa, ex-Commissioner of Youth and Sport; Abdullahi Baba; and Leah Solomon.

The Electoral Committee’s Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Danlami, disclosed that out of the 96 accredited delegates, 95 cast their votes in favor of Tafida, cementing his victory.

Tafida now gears up to rival Aminu Ibrahim Malle of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and candidates from other political parties in the by-election set for February 3, 2024.
