Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo recently shared a harrowing experience he had with armed robbers in Ubulu Okiti, Delta State. In a video posted on his Instagram page, he recounted the incident that occurred on Sunday while he and his colleagues were returning home from a movie set. “Last night while coming back from work, I was robbed at gunpoint,” he stated.
Odonwodo explained that he was traveling in his car with fellow actors Georgina Ibeh and the Shire twins when they encountered the robbers. “We were robbed around Ubulu Okiti at gunpoint,” he said. The robbers stole everything from them, including their phones, footwear, production shoes, and bags that contained personal items such as his passport, Permanent Voters Card, and ID card.
He noted that he had spotted the roadblock set up by the robbers from a distance. In an attempt to avoid the situation, he tried to reverse his car but accidentally hit a colleague, Emma Umeh, who was driving behind him. Shortly after, the armed robbers emerged from the bushes flanking the road, ordered them to lay down, and proceeded to ransack the vehicle. “When they asked us to drive away, we drove. On getting to the Customs checkpoint, we reported,” Odonwodo continued. He revealed that the Customs officials informed them that a previous group had reported being stabbed and injured at the same location, indicating that such incidents were becoming a regular occurrence.
Additionally, Odonwodo disclosed that Georgina Ibeh, who was left at the scene, was almost raped by the robbers. She managed to escape after telling them she was on her period. The actor urged the relevant authorities to take action regarding the dangerous situation on that road, emphasizing that it was well-known to the police. “I’m calling on the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, and the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, to please do something about this,” he implored. He also encouraged people to obtain their Permanent Voters Card and participate in the upcoming elections in February.
