On Monday, President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) visited the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa Stadium amidst a heavy security presence along the routes leading to the project inauguration sites. Despite the extensive security measures, some angry youths in Kano openly challenged this presence by attacking the President’s helicopter as it hovered above them. The situation escalated into a fierce confrontation between the irate youths and security operatives, who were vigilant in maintaining order on the roads leading to the inauguration sites on Ahmadu Bello Way.

In addition to the disturbances in Hotoro and a few other locations, the President’s helicopter landed at the Emir’s palace, where he paid his respects to Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Following this, he traveled in a convoy to commission the Galaxy Backbone Limited Project. During this event, there were minor skirmishes as some youths hurled stones from a distance, attempting to evade the heavily armed security personnel assigned to protect the President and his convoy.

After the commissioning, the President’s helicopter remained at the Emir’s palace while he proceeded to Kumbotso Local Government Area to unveil a 10-megawatt solar power project. This leg of the trip was notably free from mob attacks, as the President was closely surrounded by security operatives, including heavily armed soldiers in a motorized Toyota Hilux and supported by armed mobile police special forces.
